Lots of people hear "New York", and automatically think "New York
City". (Which isn't a knock on NYC.....I used to love visiting there, but I could never live there)
I'm from about 4 hours north of the city. Binghamton area, right near the NY/PA border. Aside from the politics, it's actually a nice area. My girlfriend and I (we're both 27) just needed to "spread our wings" and try life somewhere other than NY.
Luckily, we have friends down here and are staying with them until we get on our feet.
